We are looking for a database coordinator to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our Mobility Database, a directory of 2000+ GTFS datasets from across the globe, to meet the evolving needs of our international community.

As a database coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the data within our database.

What you will do

  • Conduct thorough research to identify and gather relevant GTFS feeds, ensuring that our Mobility Database remains current and comprehensive.
  • Perform cross-checks between our database and other publicly available databases to ensure we have the latest data on the market.
  • Add new data entries obtained from our data entry form.
  • Evaluate the freshness of the data within our database and take necessary actions to address any staleness issues.
  • Communicate with data providers to send friendly reminders and ensure that they maintain their publicly available data.
  • Assist in drafting technical documentation to support the GTFS community and promote best practices in data management.

Who you are

  • Strong research skills with the ability to gather and analyze data effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage the integration process from research to implementation.
  • Proficiency in Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
  • Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail.

Would be nice if

  • Experience with database administration and proficiency in SQL is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with GTFS data or similar transit data formats.
  • An interest in open-source and open-data topics.
  • Familiarity with Python is beneficial for modifying scripts and addressing bugs in adding feeds to our Mobility Database.
